Supot

His name is Supot (pronounced "Soup-o") and he is awesome. We were so worried about having a driver over here, we'd heard a lot of stories about people who were stuck with the driver from hell. Some said their drivers would show up late and not just by a couple of minutes or they would drive like maniacs and try to scare them on purpose. Luckily, Supot has been a huge help and has taken a lot of stress off our shoulders. He is very friendly and you can tell he has a lot of pride in his job and he wants to take good care of us. He even showed us a picture (we think it was a photo of him graduating from the university) and he said to Chris, "See Boss I take care of you..." He speaks better English then many people in Korat and gives us Thai lessons while we are driving around. He will see something he wants to teach us and he will say, "Boss and Madame, speak Thailand slowly..." so we know we are supposed to repeat after him. Chris comes home from work and teaches me the words Supot taught him on the way home in the car. He took me grocery shopping the other day and I learned all sorts of phrases! He says that we are smart because we can speak Thai, "Mok Mai" which means "so many." :) He is a really safe driver and doesn't scare us like some of the drivers we had on our "look see" trip. In Thailand, they drive on the other side of the road which is awkward enough so it helps that he is concerned for our "safety," the first thing he says when we get in the car (reminding us to put on our seatbelts).

Our car is a Toyota Fortuner. It's a pretty sweet little diesel SUV. :) They don't sell them in the States so if you like it, you'll have to come to Thailand to ride in ours or buy one.
