Taste Bud Adventures - Special Noodle Soup

This one would have been more appropriate around Halloween, but I figured that since I can't have a good Thanksgiving dinner, maybe I can at least spoil it for everyone else back home :-). J/K but this really is gross.

Today I went out for noodles with the guys and gals at work. They took me to a noodle shop (pretty standard) and I got noodle soup with pork...or so I thought. They kept telling me that there was something special about the soup, and that they would tell me when I had finished eating it so that I wouldn't lose my appetite. It kinda worked...since I've eaten the same soup probably 4 or 5 times in the past.
Anyways, after I finished I got the surprise. The soup is pretty normal (noodles, broth, some chunks of pork and veggies) but added to this soup is a healthy spoonful of pig blood. See exhibit B below. It starts out fresh like this, but it curdles when they boil it in the soup so you can see the little blood floaties. Before going back to work, I washed it down with Ice Cream in a Hot Dog bun. Nothing is strange to me now.

Phi Mai - Cultural Show

This weekend we went with some friends to see the light and sound show at Phi Mai. Phi Mai is a city in Thailand and home of 1000 year old ruins (we visited these ruins when we first moved to Thailand). Every year they put on a big cultural show with lights, fireworks, dancers, Thai boxers...pretty much all things Thai! They also have a huge market where you can buy different styles of Thai foods and goods from around the country.

Chris fanning himself in the extreme heat...it's only been cool 2 days so far this "winter" in Thailand!
