AWC Photography Class

A couple weeks ago I took a trip down to Bangkok to join a photography class! A professional photographer named Carolyn decided to offer a class once a month for the American Women's Club! She opened it to amateur photographers or people who just like to take pictures and will take us to different areas in Bangkok each month where we can walk around together taking pictures. I am sad I will have to miss July and August's trips but once I get back from home leave I can join again. She even told me that she could use an assistant for her portrait photo shoots so I will definitely take advantage of that when I get back to Thailand after home leave! Here are a few of my shots from our last trip:

Lea Ann's Luxurious Tooth Yanking (Post-Op Report)

Lea Ann is safe and sound back in the hotel ...er... hospital room! She's doing fine but apparently they are only going to give her Tylenol for the recovery. I think I have some better stuff up in Korat but we'll have to wait a day for that, and they don't sell high strength pain killers in the pharmacies (even though they sell just about everything else over-the-counter).

The doctor let me keep the teeth as a souvenir...woohoo! He said the 2 top teeth were easy and came out in 1 piece, but the bottom 2 were very fragile and they broke when he was pulling them. He also said he could see the nerve after he finished getting the teeth out, but he "protected it 100%". And Lea Ann has feeling in her lips, so her worst fears are past :-).

The nurses here were great, they treated Lea Ann like she was here for open-heart surgery or something (knock on wood). She gets fresh ice packs whenever she wants and we might just buy an ice cream or a frappuccino on the way outta here!

Anyways she's got 30 minutes left on the IV and then they will let her take a shower, get dressed and we'll head over to M+H's for a day of recovery in Bangkok! (lucky them). Everything's fine so far...she's just a little sore!

Lea Ann's Luxurious Tooth Yanking (Pre-Op Report)

We are all checked in at the Bumrungrad International Hospital in Bangkok for Lea Ann's wisdom tooth removal! Her surgery isn't until 8:00pm tonight, but we had to check in at noon so they can monitor how much she drinks, do a checkup, and make sure she doesn't eat anything before the surgery. She's got her IV thingy in her arm now...which she really doesn't like. Now we are bored...but at least we are bored in style!

Less than $250 for 24 hour stay including nurse fees, food for 2 delivered to the room, wi-fi, cable, etc. It is like a hotel except the service is way better! I am jealous...but glad I'm not the one getting my teeth pulled :-).

Swamp Thing

We wanted to go for a swim in the pool today, but that is not going to happen for a long time! We can't even see the bottom of the pool anymore! I can't believe anybody would swim in this...but I have seen people in there! Time to call in Mike Rowe for a Dirty Job.
