Farewell Week

Our last week in Korat was filled with a lot of farewell dinners (and a lot of food) with friends!

Sunday, my trainer Nai and his wife Jaeng had us all over to their house for a great going away dinner. They made Kanom Jiin (Chinese noodles) with a curry sauce from northern Thailand. It was really fun going to their house and actually having a real Thai style meal. We all sat on the floor (the reason people do not wear shoes in their houses) and shared all the delicious food around a small table.

Tuesday night we threw an American style BBQ for Chris' coworkers and friends at Seagate. Most of them have never tried a hamburger so we asked Patty and Joe (they own a bed and breakfast in Korat and used to live in Las Vegas for 10+ years as chefs at a big casino) to grill some up! Patty also made chicken wings, salad, mashed potatoes and cheesy spinach! It was a big hit, although most people preferred pork hamburgers to beef. :)

Wednesday night was dinner with Chris' team from Seagate. We went to really fun restaurant called Suan Lung Pee (which means Uncle Pee's Garden). They are famous for the frog dishes, but frogs are out of season right now (ahhh, too bad) so we had to settle for chicken and pork dishes. :) The restaurant has a lot of neat decorations like antiques from around the world and a whole wall of Elvis memorabilia. Chris' coworkers had a funny caricature picture made for him with the whole team in it!

Thursday night we took our drivers, Supot and Gosin, along with their wives (and Supot's little cousin Boom, who had never seen foreigners before) out for Seafood. We wanted to see Supot again before we fly out and thought it would be a nice way to say thank you...they said they never had such a nice meal in their entire lives!
